Varun Verma M.D. is a board-certified internal medicine physician, patient advocate, entrepreneur and author. Additionally, he is a Diplomat of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Dr. Verma graduated from New York University, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and returned to New York University for his internal medicine residency.
Dr. Verma firmly believes that healthcare is a human right and this conviction led him to a global health-hospital medicine fellowship at University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and ultimately working with Partners in Health in Haiti and Possible Health in Nepal. He has been fortunate to have met his public health heroes and have worked alongside many inspiring colleagues all over the world. His interests include healthcare delivery in low resource settings, patient safety, and optimizing healthcare I.T. to provide effective care. His extensive healthcare experience includes work at UCSF, Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Harvard), Mount Sinai, Columbia University Medical Center, and Jefferson Health.
In addition to his clinical pursuits – he is a published author, previously co-founded a venture-backed healthcare IT startup, and serves as an advisor to startups, medical students and residents. He lives in South Jersey with his wife and three children.
