About Health Improvement Institute

Dr. Varun Verma founded the Health Improvement Institute LLC to empower men to take charge of their health.

During his 12 years as a hospital physician, he saw the toll of preventable diseases – patients in and out of the hospital on more than a dozen medications with little focus on root causes or on nutrition and exercise. He is committed to helping you stay healthy and thrive.

At the Health Improvement Institute, we create personalized care plans tailored to men 18–64 years of age,  empowering them to take control of their health and longevity. We will transform your health by focusing on prevention and root causes, not just quick fixes. Through virtual consultations, accountability check-ins, and in-depth evaluations, we build a proactive approach to health and wellness.

Men Need A Trusted Physician Partner

Here are some key facts highlighting disparities in men’s health compared to women’s health:

1. Life Expectancy

  • Men, on average, live 5 years less than women.
    • In the U.S., life expectancy is 73.5 years for men and 79.3 years for women (CDC, 2023).

2. Preventable Deaths

  • Men are more likely to die from preventable causes:
    • Heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes occur at higher rates in men.
    • Men are also at greater risk for unintentional injuries and suicide.

3. Obesity and Lifestyle

  • Obesity affects greater than 40% of men and women, but men are less likely to recognize its risks or seek help.
  • Men are more likely to smoke, drink excessively, and engage in high-risk behaviors.

4. Healthcare Utilization

  • Men are significantly less likely to:
    • Visit the doctor regularly.
    • Seek preventive care or screenings (e.g., blood pressure, cholesterol, colonoscopies).

5. Mental Health

  • Men are less likely to discuss or seek help for mental health issues:
    • Suicide rates are nearly 4 times higher in men than women.
    • Depression and anxiety often go undiagnosed in men.

6. Chronic Diseases

  • Men have higher rates of chronic illnesses, such as:
    • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
    • Type 2 diabetes
    • Liver disease (partly due to higher alcohol consumption).

These disparities underscore the need for greater awareness and proactive care to improve men’s health outcomes and longevity.

Don’t settle for less.
